You Need a Mysterious Death of a Mentor - Patrick Reilley

On November 2023, your mentor Patrick C. Reilley, Sr mysteriously dies in a hotel - similar to your brother - a few miles up the road from you in College Park, Md. You met him at Comcast. You worked together for nearly 5 years - nothing romantic. He's your mentor. There's all these terrible rumors surrounding his death. You won't get into any of it here. But you can relate to the smear campaigns. You still don't believe it. He'd stay in hotels because he lived in NJ. He had been commuting for at least a decade. This wasn't bizarre. You lost contact for 2 years. You find out - you're driving the same Tesla.

You visited a work buddy on route 1 in Oct. Patrick had been there a few weeks before. You sent word that you wanted to talk to Patrick about an idea you had - private super charging stations. You also sent word that you'd be calling him soon.

What you know for sure is that Patrick was your soul tribe. A kindred spirit. You would spend late nights in the office working and talking about the future. For him it was electric bikes. He had been researching. It was his dream. He'd ask you to consult in 2021. You never invoiced him. You'd do it for free.

By 2021, he has a store now in Haddonfield NJ full of electric bikes. You gave him and his wife, Wendy, ideas. An app. A narrator. Someone who could give audio tours via the app while his customers rented the bikes. You planned the launch. And gave him a list of everything he needed for launch including: permitting, marketing efforts, demos etc. The list had 100 points.

If you live or work in DC and using high speed Comcast internet. Patrick designed the cabling, routing all in Auto-Cad - sometimes by hand- sometimes on pieces of paper - sometimes in his head - giving his assistant the direction. And he probably pulled the fiber for all or most of it - back to the head-end on Michigan Ave, DC.
